Group page synchronization (7.1.0)

Group page synchronization

Please note that group page synchronization is not supported on ThoughtFarmer cloud to AD integrations or in DMZ implementations where the web server is not part of the domain.

Group page synchronization must be enabled if you wish to sync ThoughtFarmer group pages with Active Directory groups. Group page synchronization can run in two modes:

  1. Simple mode: This allows for ThoughtFarmer group pages to be synced with AD groups.
  2. MS Exchange mode: This allows for ThoughtFarmer group pages to be synced with AD groups. It also allows for automatic configuration of Discussion Capture pages for Exchange distribution groups.

Group page synchronization in Simple mode

Before you begin:
Ensure that AD integration has been enabled and configured on the Active Directory page. Only basic integration needs to be set up. Write access and automatic user creation are not required.

Configure group page synchronization in Simple Mode

  1. Go the ThoughtFarmer Administration panel: Users & security section > Active Directory page.
  2. Scroll down to the Group page synchronization section at the bottom of the page.
  3. Click enable (if first time configuring), then click change.

  4. Select the Integration level radio button "Simple Mode".

You can still create Discussion Capture pages if you are not using MS Exchange mode; however, they will need to be created and configured manually. Please see Manually create Discussion capture pages for more information.

  6. Set the value for the Internal LAN email domain. This is if an internal network alias may sometimes be used for your distribution groups (e.g. domain.local). If this is not used then enter the same value as in step 5.
  7. Click Save settings.
