Google Drive Card

Set up a Google Drive Card to access files

A Google Drive Card allows you to embed files on your Google Drive into intranet pages. Users can view the file on the page, and if the file owner has granted permission, they can click on the file title to open it in Google Drive and make changes to it.

The Google Drive Card is currently a Custom Card, not one of the Standard Cards that comes with ThoughtFarmer. If you would like to have the Google Drive Card on your intranet, ask your intranet administrator to open a HelpDesk ticket with ThoughtFarmer for assistance.

Once the Google Drive Card is on your intranet, here's how to set it up:

  1. Click the Edit button (pencil icon) in the page header to go into edit mode on the page.
  2. Click Set up cards under the Content type & template heading on the right. The Card setup pop-up window will open.

  3. In the Card setup window, find the Google Drive Card section and click Set up below it (or add a Google Drive Card by clicking Modify template, clicking the plus sign where you want the card, and then picking Google Drive from the Custom Cards section of the menu on the right).
  4. Click Done at the bottom of the Card setup window.
  5. Click Save at the top right.

You will see the empty Google Drive Card on your saved page:

The size and scope of your Google Drive Card will depend on the layout of your page and the size of the device it is viewed on.

To add content to the Google Drive Card:
  1. Click the cog icon in the top right of the Google Drive Card.
  2. If you are not signed in to Google Drive, you will need to sign in.
  3. You will see a list of the files on your Google Drive, select the file you want to embed and click Embed file.
  4. The file will appear in the Google Drive Card. Users who can view the page can view the file.
Users must have the file shared with them in Google Drive in order to view it in a ThoughtFarmer Google Drive Card. Users who have been given permission to edit the file in Google Drive can click on the file title in the Google Drive Card to open the file for editing in a new tab.
